Novirin – Latent Virus Killer Part 2

In a previous post I mentioned Novirin an antiviral supplement manufactured by polyDNA. The product was developed by a Dr. Hanan Polansky designed for the sole purpose of uniquely targeting latent viruses. Dr. Polansky also believes these viruses are much more harmful in their state of latency than previously believed.

I received emails & questions from my previous post about Novirin. Therefore, I will attempt to answer it’s efficacy against common sexually transmitted diseases. I decided not to research and answer the question on cancer due to time constraints and resources. Perhaps at a later date.

A latent viral infection is a type of persistent viral infection which is distinguished from a chronic viral infection. Latency is the phase in certain viruses’ life cycles in which, after initial infection, proliferation of virus particles ceases. However, the viral genome is not fully eradicated. The result of this is that the virus can reactivate and begin producing large amounts of viral progeny without the host being infected by new outside virus. [3]

The FDA states “Some viruses, however, can enter a state known as latency in which the viruses is not being replicated. In the latent state the virus does not cause disease”. As a result according to Dr. Polansky, standard medical practices do not target latent viruses; however, foreign DNA fragments, and specifically, DNA of latent viruses, cause most major diseases.
Types of latent viruses (not an extensive list):
• Herpes Simplex Virus 1 &2 (HSV 1&2)
o During times of stress HSV 1 may begin to replicate causing cold sores in the mouth. A form of reactivated herpes virus that is known as Herpes Zoster causes the painful shingles.
• Human Immunodeficiency Viruses (HIV)
• Hepatitis B & C
• Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
• Cytomegalovirus Virus CMV
• Epstein-Bar (EBV)
• Varicella Zoster “shingles” (VZV)

Considered Non harmful Viruses in a state of latency:
Latent viruses such as the Herpes Virus (I & II) and Cytomegalovirus have for many years been considered non harmful while in a state of latency. Common belief, in a normal, healthy individual, the immune system prevents a latent virus from reactivating, and thus keeps the virus from causing harmful symptoms. Once the immune system is weakened, the latent virus goes on the attack. However, the medical community is finding more evidence that proves otherwise. For example, Herpes 6 is now associated with certain types of brain cancer. Cytomegalovirus is now associated with cervical and testicular cancer. There are many different theories on how latent viruses are harming us.

The following is a simplified explanation of how latent viruses can inadvertently cause disease from Dr. Polansky’s published scientific journal, called “Micro-competition with Foreign DNA”. Dr. Polansky claims that foreign DNA fragments, called N-boxes, cause most major diseases. When the foreign N-boxes belong to a virus, micro-competition between the viral DNA and the human DNA can lead to disease even when the virus is latent or the viral DNA is broken into pieces and cannot express proteins. In latent terms the virus while in a state of so called “dormancy” is robbing vital resources such as DNA from healthy cells, increasing the frequency of DNA errors, thereby causing disease.

To prove the Theory of Micro-competition with Foreign DNA, Dr. Polansky conducted a post marketing clinical study.

Summary of method & results of clinical trial:

The clinical study tested the effect of Novirin / Gene-Eden-VIR (same formula) on the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms reported by individuals infected with various viruses. The viruses included the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV), Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). The symptoms included abnormal Pap smear, low and high grade cervical dysplasia, warts, blisters, cold sores, hives, skin tabs, panic attacks, depression, kidney problems, sleeping problems, liver problems, fever, fatigue, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, diarrhea, and weight loss. Treatment: A capsule of Gene-Eden-VIR includes five natural ingredients: 100 mg of quercetin, 150 mg of green tea extract, 50 mg of a cinnamon extract, 25 mg of a licorice extract, and 100 mcg of selenium. The study population consisted of 60 infected individuals, ages 20 to 66.

Results:

The participants reported no side effects after taking Gene-Eden-VIR. Seventy three percent of the individuals treated with Gene-Eden-VIR reported a decrease in their symptoms. Specifically, they reported a decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of their symptoms. Following treatment, the participants also reported an increase in their physical abilities, energy levels, mental abilities, and general health. The results showed that those treated for a longer time reported a larger decrease in their symptoms.

According to the researchers the above mentioned clinical study proves that Dr. Polansky’s formula enhances the immune system to target latent viruses, thereby reducing or eliminating symptoms.

Concerns:
The study clearly mentions the effect of Novirin on symptoms but does not discuss testing the blood for viral loads. You would think based on the researcher’s claims that such clinical trials would include an analysis for viral load. Now, I do understand the difficulties in testing viral loads during their latency phase. However, there still should be some mention of it. The clinical trial was designed to prove the theory of micro-competition with foreign DNA and therefore focused on cellular gene expression. According to the researchers the above mentioned clinical study proves that Dr. Polansky’s formula enhances the immune system to target latent viruses, thereby reducing or eliminating symptoms.

Ingredients of Novirin:
100 mg of Quercetin
150 mg of Green Tea Extract
50 mg of a Cinnamon Extract
25 mg of a Licorice Extract
100 mcg of Selenium

Quercetin – There is some clinical evidence that supports the antiviral benefits against herpes simplex virus. According to one in vitro cell culture trial, it caused a viral concentration reduction. [4]
The other ingredients listed show the similar methods (in vitro cell cultures) and results.
I was hard pressed to locate human clinical trials per each individual ingredient.
The majority of research in regards to the specific ingredients in Novirin and it’s association with antiviral properties is in some way affiliated with the Lilac Corp, the biotech / supplement company responsible for the distribution of Dr. Polansky’s supplement. I’d like to point out that Dr. Polansky’s theory of micro-competition and foreign DNA stems from computer bases predictive models.
